58% of The Rugby Blog readers aligned with Brian Ashton

The Rugby Blog poll found that 58% of respondents thought that Lawrence Dallaglio should play Number 8 for England.  Today Brian Ashton has named the World Cup-winning legend in his starting line up for England’s first game against the USA.

21% believe that Nick Easter should start in that position, with 12% opting for Joe Worsley.  Martin Corry received just 9% of the vote, and Brian Ashton seems to agree, having left him on the bench for Saturday’s clash.

Please take part in the new poll by clicking here and let me know who you think will be the star of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.  You may be pleased to hear that Martin Corry is not one of the options.

  1. Wow – I didn’t read these stats last week but they are really interesting now in hindsight, given that Lol has gone from starter to spectator, and Corry has made a meteoric rise from being not fit to start, to being captain.

I like a coach that knows his own mind and has the courage of his convictions. Anybody know of one? Ashton is starting to remind me of Alan Partridge with his wacky ideas (apologies to any non-Partridge fans who will wonder what I’m on about – “Monkey tennis…..youth hostelling with Chris Eubank……..Farrell at fly half………Corry as captain.”

    Whatever next?
