  1. Not a Balshaw in sight!! I really like the look of that squad. See Joe Ward sneaking into the Saxons fold – how strange! We’re stealing all the kiwi rejects!!

  2. I’m so glad to see Simpson-Daniel finally back in the mix. Let’s hope he stays injury-free for a while. He and Sackey could be our first-choice wings, with Varndell as back up. I’m not that surprised Strettle has been demoted to be honest.

Does anyone know why Chuter has been promoted, with Paice dropping to the Saxons?

  3. Johnson has already played a blinder. By naming a Saxons squad outright, he has made it something that players want to be a part of. No more last second call ups for a squad that no one particularly cares about.

    Great motivator.

  4. Agree James, the JSD inclusion is one of several positive signals (I also like the inclusion of Geraghty and Lewsey in particular). Like Johnno’s comments about how players engaging in the kind of activities that got four of them into trouble in NZ probably aren’t bright enough to be in the elite squad….so are we to interpret that the four involved are among those excluded?
