Amlin Challenge Cup Draw 2011/12

The Amlin Challenge Cup draw took place at the ERC offices today, and is published below.

Jonny WIlkinson will be heading back to Kingston Park to take on Newcastle, and there are one or two tricky pools. Remember that only the pool winners go through, and then three teams from the Heineken Cup make up the eight quarter-final spots.

Are you happy with the draw?

Pool 1: Stade Francais Paris, Worcester Warriors, Crociati Parma, Bucharest Wolves
Pool 2: Toulon, Newcastle Falcons, Petrarca Padova, Lyon Rugby
Pool 3: London Wasps, Bayonne, Femi-CZ Rovigo, Bordeaux-Begles
Pool 4: Perpignan, Newport Gwent Dragons, Exeter Chiefs, Cavalieri Prato
Pool 5: Sale Sharks, Brive, Agen, Club de Rugby La Vila

  1. Those are still some tough old groups! I like the fact that this competition really is just one step down from the Heineken Cup – and with the incentive for the winners going into the HC the following year it really is worth putting your best team out for it each match.

From a Wasps point of view i reckon we’ll do well to get out of the group ahead of Bayonne – they’ve signed up a load of decent players and seem to be a team going places.
