We’re back to European action this weekend, and we have two all-French semi-finals in the Amlin Challenge Cup.
Toulon v Stade Francais Paris: Toulon by 8
First up is Toulon versus Stade Francais tonight, and it’s difficult to look past Toulon at home. They haven’t lost at the Stade Félix Mayol since September and I’d expect them to book a place in the final.
Stade Francais remain unbeaten in the tournament after dispatching Exeter in Paris last weekend, but only just. They’ll put up a good fight but anything other than a Toulon victory would be an upset.
Biarritz v Brive: Biarritz by 6
Then on Saturday, Brive travel to Biarritz aiming to continue their own unbeaten run. Biarritz is the only surviving team of the three sides that qualified via the Heineken Cup, and will benefit from home advantage.
Instincts tell me that this isn’t going to be the most exciting, high-scoring European rugby fixture this weekend, but I think it will be a Toulon v Biarritz final in May.
