  1. And Deans has done it again. That man has no interest in the Wallabies winning any sort of game, whether it be against England or Indonesia. Why would you even consider picking Phipps after his shocker last week against the French? Moore should have walked straight into the hookers jersey, but no, TPN, the hooker who CAN NOT throw, carry a ball in two hands, tackle with a proper technique or most importantly, scrum, gets it instead. Sending Harris to the substitutes could come back and bite as well, seeing as his pin point goal kicking has held then in so many games in the past 6 months. Saying that, I’m glad to see that he’s stuck with Cummins on the left wing instead of Drew Mitchell, Cummins has a whole lot of heart to go with his talent and a few more games and he’ll develop a heap.
    England by 10+

Because Sheehan is an average journeyman?

  2. I agree with much of your comment Rhydian.

The positives for this selection (for aus) are that Timani should add some much needed grunt up front. We all know Diggers is a great addition.

I think this Aus side’s performance is more dependent on whether they have belief and direction in their game plan rather than personnel. I believe this to be true of all teams but especially this Aus side.

A wounded Aus side is something to approach very cautiously.

  3. Swap beale and barnes pleassse robbie, both are proven in their positions, barnes a solid 10 with great tactical kicking and defense too boot, beale with scything runs and flair from the back..why are they played like this? Ohhhh robbie

  4. Aus are going to need to keep scrums to a minimum with that front row, which hopefully (for the neutral) they will do by keeping the ball in play as much as possible. Could be an exciting game, especially as the thought of losing two on the trot would leave the Aussies suicidal so this should be a massive effort from them.

  5. I hope this doesn’t come back to bite me but England should win this game.
Without Pocock, Genia, Higginbotham, O’Connor, Horwill and, dare i say, Cooper, this team does not look that impressive. They’ve got some potency in Beale, AAC, Ioane but i’d hope England have enough to win this one.

  6. Glad to have Tapui in at 12. Watch him – especially since we have Digby back.

Also glad to have Palu, TPN and Timani in the side. All good runners.

An interesting stat is that we rarely lose when AAC is playing at 13. Once again injuries have forced a better team from Deans. I’m also glad to have Barnes at fullback. He kicks far too much for a first receiver.

Main concern is Nick Phipps. Can pass and deliver quick ball but he’s no Will Genia and he struggles against a big opposition pack. Pocock is a big loss, but Michael Hooper is outstanding and Liam Gill off the bench is no slouch.

Under the ‘False Dawn Deans’ regime, it’s circumstances like these that lead to Australian victories.

Let’s be honest, no one knows what to expect from these guys anymore. But they’re capable of anything!!
