  1. Not much hope for them against SA. What on earth is he doing with socks on ankles Zebo in the team and that on full back? Why not pick a player that can defend and play full back?

Madiggan would be a better move on full back, but his not even in the 31 squad. What about Toner and other young players or will he keep with the old guys for the next Worldcup?

If Ireland cant win the weekend, Kidney should go, get sacked or go back to Munster. Then get somebody that wants the team to win and knows how to select the best players in Ireland.

And if Ireland lost the game, DK should get a new excuse. Going on tv after losing, with a smile, red in the face and to say it wast there day, is becoming second nature for him and his making fools of the players and supporters.

    1. Tbh Zebo is a risk but we need a few risks at the minute. Felix Jones would have probably been a better option.
However, choosing Murray who is probably Ireland’s 3rd/4th most able scrum half is a joke. Other issues would be the persistence with O’Callahagn instead of the abrasive Touhy and I think jackson should have got the nod for the bench. O’ Gara is a very short sighted selection on the bench. Jackson is playing Heineken cup rugby every possible week and need to be given the opportunity to make the step up.

  2. I’m guessing that Rob Kearney is injured?

This looks like a team that could be embarrassed by SA. Depending on who they select of course.

  3. seems solid, my only doubts are:
Zebo on fullback, but i’ll give him a chance. He won’t reach the level of kearney, but maybe we will unearth something here.

Keith Earls on 2nd center didn’t go all to well lat times, so i’m not entirely convinced.

I have not seen o’Gara play domestically yet, but isn’t it getting a bit late these days? shouldn’t we blood new fly-halfs, so we have a back-up if sexton gets injured?

apart from that, solid choices, and heaslip is a deserving captain

  4. Zebo at full back and Murray at srumhalf – What a joke! This selection does not encourage inform players to keep putting their hand up to wear an Ireland shirt. Maybe Kidney needs to get out of Munster a bit more and see the difference inform players can make – but then his compass never really points north. Can’t wait for the day that Kidney goes!

  5. I like the look of the team under the circumstances, Zebo is a risk at full back but if he can handle the SA kicking game we have a very quick and strong back three.
I would have Reddan to start with Sexton, Murray is stronger but a slow decision maker
Glad to see McCarthy get a start he has been outstanding for Connacht.
    Go Ireland

  6. I would have selected Donnacha O Callaghan instead of Mike McCarthy in the second row. He is in flying form this season under new Munster management.
In the backline I would move Bowe to full back, Earls to the wing and Mcfadden in the centre. This would allow Mcfadden to rotate with D’Arcy as second reciever which would be a good tactic.
Disappointed to see Bent on the bench having never played for Leinster. He should be with his province for November to prove himself and then call him up for Six Nations. Why would you want to play for Connacht if a player who is playing om=n the otherside of the world get put straight into National squad without having played on Irish soil.
