  1. good to see Denton starting, deserved it after last game. He played well, and flattened mccaw, toroughly deserved.

      1. or to finally see some attacking flair by scotland! Maybe the skills of the wallabies in backline magically moved to the scots, would explain their trashing in france..

  2. Not so sure about Brown as an openside. That back row doesn’t look very balanced. Surely 6. Brown, 7. Barclay, 8. Denton would be more balanced? Has John Barclay’s form been that bad this season? I haven’t seen much of him. Whilst you need to take SA on up front you also can’t get sucked into a purely attritional game.

    1. Barclay has been outplayed by Fusaro this season, but I agree that Scotland don’t want a power-based game. I’d be tempted by Brown, Denton, Fusaro. Strokosch seemed to fall off a lot of tackles on Sunday (maybe Ansbro did him in over the summer!), and although Denton’s not playing particularly well his directness is probably a must against South Africa.

    2. I think it’s a good backrow for a game against South Africa.
The Scotish backup opensides aren’t good enough to contest the ball so Robinson is obviously looking to physically match them with an extra lineout option as well.
