Aviva Premiership Predictions: Round 3

A much better performance last weekend, with only one incorrect prediction, so fingers crossed for the full house this week.

The round kicks off tonight with another top-of-the-table clash, this time with Northampton Saints taking on Bath at Franklins Gardens. After just two rounds, these are the only unbeaten sides in the league, and there’s a great contest in prospect between two sides that play with width. On the basis that the Saints have faced a sterner test so far, and with home advantage, I’ve gone for a narrow home victory.

The other huge fixture is Wasps versus Leicester, in which two teams that used to dominate the league are looking to find some form. Neither have been particularly impressive so far this season, and like Ben in the Key Clash Preview, I’m backing the Tigers to come through.

Sale v Quins and Exeter v Newcastle are also tricky to predict, but I’ve gone for home wins in the other four fixtures this weekend. Most of them could go either way, but hopefully they’ll go my way!

Northampton Saints v Bath: Northampton Saints by 6
Sale Sharks v Harlequins: Sale Sharks by 5
Exeter Chiefs v Newcastle Falcons: Exeter Chiefs by 8
London Wasps v Leicester Tigers: Leicester Tigers by 9
Leeds Carnegie v Saracens: Saracens by 13
London Irish v Gloucester Rugby: London Irish by 13
