Dream start for Exeter in their Premiership debut

Exeter Chiefs made a remarkable winning start in their first ever Premiership fixture, beating Gloucester by 22-10.

Fly-half Gareth Steenson kicked 17 points after an early try from wing Mark Foster. Gloucester scored two tries, but a disappointing kicking performance from Nicky Robinson meant that they couldn’t stay in the game.

The Chiefs are not short of support, and this will do their cause no harm at all. I expected them to take some time to adjust to life in the top flight, but on this evidence, they may well stay up.

Exeter, we salute you!
