We have the prospect of two scintillating semi-final matches this weekend, and I seem to be predicting two Away wins, most unusually.
Munster v Saracens
This should be a cracker with the two European powerhouses slugging it out. If the game were being played at Thomond Park, I would back Munster to win, but the Aviva Stadium does not offer the same intimidating atmosphere for Munster’s opposition.
Munster have been galvanised this season, channelling their feelings for Anthony Foley into some passionate, ferocious performances, and they’ll be desperate to lift the trophy in Foley’s honour. Conversely, Saracens represent the well-coached, business-like team that will be prepared for everything that Munster can throw at them.
Heart says Munster, but head says Sarries by 4.
Clermont v Leinster
Both my heart and my head are saying Leinster for this one. Clermont has been hot and cold in the Top 14, losing at home to Brive one week and then thrashing Grenoble the next, and I suspect Leinster will be the better-prepared team.
Leinster have won 9 in a row in the Guinness Pro12, and are timing their run perfectly into the end of the season. Leinster by 6.
