France names team to play Scotland


Philippe Saint-André has made seven changes to the France team to play Scotland this weekend. Wesley Fofana, Yannick Nyanga and Dmitri Szarzewski are injured, and are replaced by Maxime Mermoz, Sebastian Vahaamahina and Brice Mach.

Jean-Marc Doussain, Hugo Bonneval and Wenceslas Lauret are dropped, with Maxime Machenaud, Maxime Medard and Alexandre Lapandry coming in.

Louis Picamoles is dropped from the squad after disrespecting the referee in France’s loss to Wales in the last round.

  1. Well it looks as though France are going to make a new record here, because I can’t believe any other team has ever had three people with the same first name in their back line! Even if there has been, I bet the name was not Maxime!!!! Just how confusing could that get on Saturday?

    I’m really hoping Scotland can turn them over and get a good win.

  2. Why on earth couldn’t they have had this side out when England went to Paris?

    On a more serious note, excellent chance for Scotland to take a serious scalp here.

  3. Am I the only one who is consistently baffled by the French selection? As to how Mermoz has leapfrogged Fickou into the starting team. Also how Bastareaud has kept his place when he has been so poor.

    Can anyone remember if PSA used such a bizarre selection policy when he was coaching at club level?
