Gallagher Premiership 2018/19: Round 8 Predictions

Gallagher Premiership

Last week’s picks weren’t bad, with 5 out of 6, and only Northampton’s improved performance at home surprising me in their win over Wasps.

As for the Gallagher Premiership this weekend, here are my Superbru predictions.

Newcastle v Bath
The Falcons have won their last three matches against Bath, and they need to start winning again to get off the bottom of the table. Newcastle by 2

Worcester v Harlequins
The home side usually wins this fixture, and instinct says to back the Warriors here. Worcester by 2

Exeter v Gloucester
The Chiefs were a little lucky to maintain their winning record at Bristol last weekend, and they’ll probably carry it on as they return to Sandy Park this weekend. Exeter by 7

Sale v Northampton
I didn’t expect the Saints to beat Wasps last weekend, which cost me the GSP on Superbru, but Sale almost beat Sarries last weekend and are always tough to beat at home. Sale by 4

Wasps v Bristol
The Bears have been poor on the road, losing their three away games so far by an average of nearly 30 points. After pushing Exeter last week, this should be a bit closer. Wasps by 13

Leicester v Saracens
With several international stars missing, Sarries were given a scare by Sale last weekend, but Leicester were thrashed at Kingsholm. Saracens by 8

  1. Pity these games are largely being overlooked due to the focus being on the internationals.
Last week saw some excellent games, featuring some standout performances and great tries. This weeks line up is potentially every bit as good. All the games could be really tight and really competitive.
Exeter-Gloucester is the one that stands out for me. A real test for Exeter, who are missing a host of players, and a guide to whether Gloucester are capable of stepping up to genuine top 4 contenders.
