Gethin Jenkins to miss RBS Six Nations

Gethin JenkinsWales have suffered another injury blow with the news that prop Gethin Jenkins is likely to miss the entire RBS Six Nations.

The Cardiff player requires surgery on a toe injury, and will need a recovery period of 10 to 12 weeks.

Whilst the news is damaging to Wales’ Six Nations prospects, the timing will allow him to play for the Blues towards the end of the season and then take part in the pre-Rugby World Cup preparations.

He’s a shoo-in for the Welsh squad, so it’s not as though his chances of going to New Zealand have been severely damaged.

  1. Paul James is a better scrummager anyway, and it’s not as though Jenkins is a good ball carrier. They’ll miss him around the field, acting like flanker, which means their actual back row will have to step up for once.
