Guinness Premiership Predictions

The Guinness Premiership returns with just three games this weekend, and it’s first versus second at Kingsholm.

London Irish thrashed Gloucester when the sides met at the Madejski Stadium last year, but I’m backing Dean Ryan’s mean to dust themselves off after European disappointment and to overturn that defeat.

Very few sides win at Kingsholm, and I think I’m right in saying that only Leicester have won there in the last few years. Irish have lost their last two away games, and even though they have Delon Armitage and Nick Kennedy back since they were released by England, my heart and head says Gloucester.

Worcester host Sale at Sixways and I’ve predicted a win for the Manchester side. Worcester have drawn their last two matches against Newcastle and Bristol, two teams that aren’t exactly setting the competition on fire and so I think fourth-placed Sale will be too strong.

Harlequins have fallen off the pace in the Premiership recently, and Northampton could leapfrog them in the league if they win this fixture. Considering the triumphant march by Quins into the Heineken Cup quarters, I imagine spirits will be too high to let them slip to a defeat at The Stoop.

Here are my SuperBru predictions for these matches:

Gloucester Rugby v London Irish: Gloucester Rugby by 6
Worcester Warriors v Sale Sharks: Sale Sharks by 7
Harlequins v Northampton Saints: Harlequins by 8
