Guinness Premiership Predictions: Round 6

The Guinness Premiership returns this weekend after the two-week ‘break’ for the European competitions, and the clubs’ fortunes in Europe could have a bearing on the predictions of the SportGuru community for Round 6.

Bath v Newcastle Falcons
Bath’s last-gasp defeat to Stade Francais last week will leave them desperate to ease the pain with a win this week, and SportGuru players believe that Newcastle could be just the opposition to help them. Just over 95% of the community are predicting a home win, although over 1% are backing a fourth Draw for the Falcons. The average overall prediction is Bath by 8.

Gloucester Rugby v London Wasps
Gloucester disappointed in Biarritz last week, and coach Bryan Redpath has been trying to fix things this week before Wasps visit Kingsholm. Nearly 70% of the community are predicting an Away victory for Wasps, although it’s aniticipated to be a tight match – the average overall prediction is Wasps by 3.

Northampton Saints v Sale Sharks
Despite defeat in Perpignan, the Saints have been showing some great form, with Shane Geraghty orchestrating affairs at Franklin’s Gardens. They are overwhelming favourites to beat Sale, with nearly 94% of the support on SportGuru, and the average overall prediction is Northampton by 8.

Worcester Warriors v Harlequins
This game appears to be the hardest to predict. Harlequins recorded their first Premiership victory just before the two-week break, but the home side is marginal favourite for this fixture, with 57% of the community backing Worcester. Whilst only 2% are actually predicting a stalemate, the average of around 3,000 predictions is a Draw.

London Irish v Leicester Tigers
The Exiles had mixed fortunes in Europe with an incredible win over Leinster followed by defeat to the Scarlets. This week’s visit of Leicester Tigers is likely to be another stern test, although over 75% of the SportGuru community are backing them to overcome the reigning champions in a repeat of last year’s final. The average overall pick is Irish by 3.

Saracens v Leeds Carnegie
According to SportGuru players, this is the biggest one-sided match of the season so far, with over 99% backing Saracens to continue their 100% Premiership record. It could be another difficult afternoon for Leeds, with the average overall pick standing at Saracens by 17.
