Halfpenny in at full back for Wales against Ireland

Wales head coach Warren Gatland on Thursday announced his team to play the quarter-final match against Ireland at Wellington Regional Stadium on Saturday, 8 October.

  1. Glad to see Halfpenny in at full-back. I like Hook but he was lost in the first game and a half. When Halfpenny came on against Samoa it really gave us some impetus, and may even have saved the game for us. The back row battle is going to be brutal. If we can win that we have a very decent chance. Easier said than done though!

    1. Samoa are #10, Italy are #11. Ireland are #5, Wales are #6. But we were much more clinical against Italy imo. Fiji (#16) are laughable at the moment – a shadow of their former greatness. I think we can take the Welsh. I have to admit though that I wouldn’t be overly surprised if we didn’t. It could be close.
