Italy team to play England

FIR logoJacques Brunel has restored Sergio Parisse to the starting line-up for Italy’s clash with England this weekend. He returns to the number eight shirt, with Robert Barbieri shifting to the openside and Paul Derbyshire returning to the bench.

The only other changes are in the front row, where Lorenzo Cittadini and Matias Aguero replace Martin Castrogiovanni, who is injured, and Alberto de Marchi, who is on the bench.

15 Luke McLean, 14 Angelo Esposito, 13 Michele Campagnaro, 12 Gonzalo Garcia, 11 Leonardo Sarto, 10 Luciano Orquera, 9 Tito Tebaldi, 8 Sergio Parisse, 7 Robert Barbieri, 6 Joshua Furno, 5 Marco Bortolami, 4 Quintin Geldenhuys, 3 Lorenzo Cittadini, 2 Leonardo Ghiraldini, 1 Matias Aguero.

Replacements: 16 Davide Giazzon, 17 Michele Rizzo, 18 Alberto de Marchi, 19 George Fabio Biagi, 20 Paul Derbyshire, 21 Edoardo Gori, 22 Tommaso Allan. 23 Andrea Masi.

  1. Interesting change in the front row. I thought de Marchi had done fairly well. Does anyone know what these new props are like? Are they big scrummagers to have a go at England’s possible weakness?

    I can see the England pack introducing themselves to Orquera early doors!

    Must be said, it’s great to look at an Italian teamsheet and think, that is a competitive outfit. Still going for an Engalnd win but not by 50!
