Magners League Predictions 2010/11: Round 5

This week’s rugby action kicks off tonight with the Magners League fixture between Cardiff and Connacht, so I thought I’d better publish my predictions today lest anyone accuse me of cheating when I get the result spot on!

Connacht have started the season looking better than usual, but I fancy Cardiff for a comfortable home win tonight, similar to their 22-point victory over the Dragons a fortnight ago.

For the first time this season, I’m picking an Italian side to win – Treviso have had two wins from four so far, beating the Scarlets in week 1 and Leinster in week 3. Despite a home defeat last week against Cardiff, I think they’ll overcome this week’s Welsh opposition who have won only once so far.

Elsewhere, I’m hoping that my picks aren’t too controversial. The Leinster v Munster game should be a cracker as always, with Jonny Sexton returning for the hosts, but I’m backing the Away side based on their superior form so far this season.

Let me know your thoughts and what your predictions are:

Cardiff Blues v Connacht Rugby: Cardiff Blues by 21
Benetton Treviso v Gwent Dragons: Benetton Treviso by 8
Ulster v Glasgow Warriors: Ulster by 11
Aironi Rugby v Edinburgh: Edinburgh by 13
Leinster v Munster: Munster by 8
Scarlets v Ospreys: Ospreys by 11

  1. Blues by 7
    Treviso by 12
    Ulster by 18
    Edinburgh by 10
    Munster by 6
    Scarlets by 4

Should be some eyebrows raised if these predictions come true

  2. Not dissimilar to mine there Ian, except for the Scarlets result. There seem to be a few people backing the home side there, but here’s hoping for an Ospreys win.
