Newcastle student rugby team wins national rugby tournament

The Cheeky Ladies, a rugby team from Newcastle University, beat 32 others from around the country to scoop first prize at a nationwide tournament on Friday, sponsored by Domino’s Pizza.

In front of a crowd of 10,000 spectators The Cheeky Ladies beat arch rivals The Larrikins to take the crown in the one day tournament.  The final took place at Kingston Park Stadium, home to the Newcastle Falcons, during the halftime interval of the Guiness premiership clash between Newcastle Falcons and Leeds Carnegie.

Falcons’ Man of the Match, Tom May and Scottish legend Doddie Weir presented the winning team with Domino’s Pizza vouchers as well as 15 crates of Magners, alongside organiser, Chris Laws.  While Man of the Match, Olu Adeosun (Cheeky Ladies) picked up a year’s supply of pizza for his efforts.  On the night, the winners also received Domino’s new pizza, the Scrummy, to celebrate.

The runners up picked up Domino’s vouchers and both finalists were presented with Limited Edition KooGa kits for each player.
