Post Match Reaction: Australia 6-9 Scotland

A late, late Greig Laidlaw penalty clinched a famous win for Scotland in Newcastle!

In conditions more commonly found on the highlands than in New South Wales, Australia and Scotland battled through torrential rain and post-rattling winds to finish level at 6-6. Far from the most aesthetically pleasing test match we’ll see this summer, Scotland put in a phenomenal defensive effort through John Barclay, Alasdair Strokosch and Ross Rennie along with Richie Gray at the breakdown.

What did you make of the game?

These celebrations say it all!

Scotland deserved this win. No ‘B team’ excuses from Aussies either. I hate those excuses because it is still the top tier national side and that squad was picked by the coach. Plus Genia, Pocock and Ioane is hardly a B team anyway.

  2. Yeah, no excuses from Australia. We’ve got a bad habit of not winning tests we should have. 36 mins in the opp 22, yet barely a point scored. Hardly acceptable.

Epic defense from Scotland. Well won!

I was there at murrayfield a few years ago – very similar match, but a great night out afterwards!!
