RaboDirect Pro12 Predictions 2011/12: Semi-finals

We’ve reached the crucial final stages of the domestic season in the Northern Hemisphere, and four teams will be battling it out to be crowned kings of the Pro12 this weekend. I’m currently 4th on the SportGuru Global Leaderboard, so these picks are pretty important (to me).

Ospreys v Munster

First up on Friday night, the Ospreys host Munster at the Liberty stadium, and both will be desperate to reach the final.

The Ospreys have beaten Munster home and away this season, with a 17-13 victory at Thomond Park, followed by a 19-13 win in the home fixture, and the bookies make the Welsh side favourites again.

But something is telling me to pick Munster. It hasn’t been their finest season, and will still be smarting from their Heineken Cup exit at the hands of Ulster, and instinct tells me that they won’t want their season to end in Swansea.

There’s not much between the sides on paper, so I’m going with a hunch. Munster by 3.

Leinster v Glasgow

Leinster might be without Rob Kearney and Brian O’Driscoll for this game, but I can only see one winner here. The home team have been the best side in Europe over the past couple of years, and I just don’t fancy Glasgow’s chances.

That said, playing Leinster shouldn’t hold any fear for the Scots – they won the fixture away at the RDS, albeit during the World Cup, and then held them to a draw in the home leg.

But you have to look at the timing of results in the Pro12, and this is semi-final time, with Leinster looking for a league and Heineken Cup double over the next few weeks.

Leinster by 9

What do you think? Will it be a Leinster v Munster final?
