Nothing too fancy or glamourous, just straight-forward hard work at the breakdown, superb carrying from 1-8 and only going wide once you’re going forward (and when you do go wide, running straight, drawing the man and giving the pass!)

Their blend of forward power with a solid mid-field who are comfortable on the ball and a dangerous back 3 is a template England should be looking at following

What a cracking game, now looking forward to seeing them put the Aussies to the sword next week. I reckon you’d still get good odds on Argies to win the World Cup?

However when you look at the tournament as a whole and consider it was played in England and Wales, it does raise a lot of questions.

New Zealand and Australia are probably even better (the last Aus performance notwithstanding).

Ireland reverted back to the way they played against Italy (with or without injuries, you can’t do that against the Argies.)

Tactically, Ireland were also schooled.

…that they were basically robbed by Joubert in broad daylight.

Chin up Scotland. You should be playing the Argies, and I think you would beat them. Ireland made them look better than they are with inept defending. Consistency is still a problem with Ireland as ever.

Their woeful performance against the AB’s would have only made Argentina more confident against Ireland, and they certainly were confident.

At least you proved me wrong I thought u would hide. Enjoy the rest of the games. Peace

Bing AlexD. Ireland were like a deer in the headlights for the first 20 minutes, and the Argies capitalised on that. It was the kind of spirited fightback Ireland are capable of but a one man army created it all – Luke Fitzgerald! – the one Irish player who definitely had ‘cojones’.

Tactically, Ireland played DIRECTLY into the Argies hands. Going heavy through the centre and leaving the channels exposed. Joe Schmidt met his match, regardless of injuries and performances.

So it’s not all doom and gloom for us NHers. Next year’s 6N has the potential of being mighty interesting….
