Best to keep things in perspective. Australia played the better rugby in that game. Ireland did what they do best. They pounced on the the Aussie attack and poached tries off that. 1st try was a group choke and then rip by Best, then grubbered out the wing. It was highly opportunistic but lightning fast, like a counter punch. Australia choked back very nicely btw. Bowe’s try was a certain Aussie try as they had a big overlap with men over, and that’s the only reason Bowe pounced, if he didn’t they were in with ease. But Ireland are a top side. They have the mark of a top side – they can play badly and still grind out a win. They played badly in defense in the first half. There’s no doubt about it and Australia were more enterprising with the ball in hand throughout. But the numbers don’t lie. Ireland did enough to earn this result. We’re building up a strong set of results in recent years against Aus and SA.
