RBS 6 Nations 2012: Ireland team to play France

Declan Kidney has named his side to take on France in Paris on Saturday night.

The only change sees Keith Earls recalled to the centres having missed out against Wales after his daughter was taken ill.

Can this team cause an upset at the Stade de France?

15. Rob Kearney, 14. Tommy Bowe, 13. Keith Earls, 12. Gordon D’Arcy, 11. Andrew Trimble, 10. Johnny Sexton, 9. Conor Murray, 1. Cian Healy, 2. Rory Best, 3. Mike Ross, 4. Donnacha O’Callaghan, 5. Paul O’Connell (c), 6. Stephen Ferris, 7. Sean O’Brien, 8. Jamie Heaslip

16. Sean Cronin, 17. Tom Court, 18. Donnacha Ryan, 19. Peter O’Mahony, 20. Eoin Reddan, 21. Ronan O’Gara, 22. Fergus McFadden

  1. On paper that looks great but going by last Sunday’s performance there is something “missing”.

I hate to say that anyone is indispensable but I did notice a lack of leadership with Mr O’Driscoll’s presence.

  2. Agree it looks like a great team on paper but sadly the Irish attack again failed to ignite last Saturday – it has been a long time since Ireland produced an impressive attacking performance (bar the game against England). To compound this, our defence was not as aggressive as usual.

In defence of this team, minus one questionalable penalty, they would have won the game and the French match would be built up as a title decider. This Irish team has serious potential if they can iron out a few kinks in defence and get the attack flowing – if the attack does not imporve during six nations a new attack coach needs to be brought in and let Kiss concentrate on defence.

    1. I agree Chalky – if that Ferris non-penalty hadn’t been given and Ireland had won, this would be the game of the championship and people would give the Irish a real chance.

I really want to predict an Ireland win, but that French midfield is pretty handy…

  3. D’Arcy and Earls against a midfield of Fofana and Rougerie. I guess this is another game to the French then. Possibly the worst defensive centre combination out of all the teams. The French must be rubbing their hands with excitment.

  4. Ireland might had a chance against France, but not with Murray on 9 and the centres that is picked. Send Kidney, Murray and Earls back to Munster and get a coach who knows how to coach rugby and to pick the best players for Ireland.

  5. leinster seconds played class tonight! after leinster win the Hc this year hope joe gets kidneys seat as irelands coach.

  6. Met some of the lads on the Champs Elysees this afternoon.
In great form and looking forward to the game. Allez le vert !
