  1. The mental French coaching disease now strikes the previously boring Saint Andre. Best NH centre on the wing. Best NH scrum half on the bench. 2nd best French centre on the bench. Genius selection for turning the match from a potentially dull foregone conclusion into something that could go Italy’s way now?

  2. FWIW I do know Parra left Clermont’s game against Perpignan last Friday with a suspected concussion. Then again, if that’s an issue, he shouldn’t really be named at all.

  3. To explain, Parra is benched because the association Machenaud-Michalak went very well in Argentina for the Second test in June and for the tests against Australia and Argentina in November. No issue with concussion, he just left the pitch earlier to ensure he would be ok for the 6 nations.
Apparently according to Saint-André, association Parra-Michalak did not work so well when tried… Unfortunately! Hope this will change, Machenaud is less experienced and has still improvements to make to become as close to his forwards as Parra is.

Concerning Fofana, that’s a big debate in France too. Everybody wants him at centre, but we have too many good centres and currently not so many good wings/fullbacks that are not injured: since a few days, Dulin and Clerc had to leave because of injuries.
Malzieu (Clermont) is injured, Andreu or Martial (Castres) were not included in the squad, Médard, Palisson just came back from injury recently, Poitrenaud was not included in the squad (i don’t really know why…). So as they consider they have other really good centres with Fritz and Mermoz, but still think Fofana should play, he’s included as winger…

  4. Fofana is electric and makes linebreaks for fun. He is so good at identifying mismatches and picking off forwards with quick feet. No other 12 in the world can do what he does. It’s unfathomable to play him on the wing when he can be martialled by any semi-organised defence and he will usually be up against a back.

  5. It seems impossible to find a list of players with their numbers for any of the six nations games 2013. Any suggestions? At least here I have found a list of the french team with numbers. I like to watch the games with a list of players in front of me and I don’t want to spend half the time scribbling down names and numbers. (Yes, I’m a girl and new to rugby).
