The Recreation Ground in Bath has long been the subject of debate – it’s one of the most picturesque rugby venues but the capacity and facilities are deemed insufficient for the ambitions of Bath Rugby.
There is a campaign underway to bring supporters together to act as a voice for the community and to work towards a satisfactory compromise between the demands of a professional rugby club, the heritage of the site and the leisure needs of the local people.
Plenty of solutions have been proposed to this dilemma, from applying for planning permission to expand the current stands at The Rec to relocating Bath Rugby to a larger, more practical home in Swindon. Perhaps now the campaign will find a palatable solution for everyone involved.
The Rugby Blog is proud to support the campaign – head over to http://www.realfriendsoftherec.co.uk/ for more information and to register your details.
