Of course that ignores the 1st 2 and the fact that in the last 2 visits Oz have won 1, lost 1 v England. If the Oz scrum were so weak they should have been cointinuosly shunted 5 yrds every time. Never happened tho did it?

No skin off my nose either way, but like HP implied, it’s just a part of the game.
hugo Porter said that the some countries concentrate too much on the scrum (England?). In my view he’s right right as to do so is to neglect the rest of the game; like the loose (lose that & likely lose the game), the lineout & ATTACK (funnily enuff for the purpose of scoring pts/TRIES!).

And if the Oz scrum is sooo weak, as said before, how come they’ve been ranked 2nd/3rd in the world for the last 10 yrs?

It started changing when they gave the Irish a lesson. If they can stop the Boks then they’ll have shown they’ve fixed their scrum, and good for them. I don’t expect anyone in the RC to be able to match the Argies, they have the best scrum in the world.

Crooked feeds were coming in from both sides, only one was unfortunate enough to get pinged for it. And only one side was repeatedly infringing in the red zone. And for him to not go back to the penalty advantage (of which there were 3 in a row and could have easily been another yellow), after Horne got bundled out, is a call no other ref in the world would have made. Advantage over? How was it over? They’d made no ground (it was 5m out), any other ref would have called it back

Scrums were a bit of a mess, and I think he just wanted the ball to come out rather than have constant resetting time and time again.

Still good to see a bit of ref-bashing :D

However the old English view that Oz can’t scrum is a myth & belied by their being IRB ranked 3 & they didn’t give up too much today.

They’ve evolved as a team & I believe that they’ll be a real threat come WC time. Their fwds are pretty exp now, in the tight 5 & in the loose & their backs make good, crafty use of quick ball. Oz were unfortunate not to score 3/4 way through the match. Only airtight AB D kept them out. The ABs knocked or turned ball over @ a couple of vital times & so butchered a potential try or 2.

That bluddy Saffa ref though! Talk about crooked feeds. Doesn’t he read the rule book? Also kept Oz in it a bit with 2 AB yellows! Only 1 side infringing or what? And as for that scrum in the Oz 22 late on with their prostate hooker sunbathing on the deck; was the ref paid by Oz to avoid the most obvious penalty in the world… ever?

Anyway, a tighty 4 sure which could have gone either way, but didn’t. Expect a bit of an AB backlash in Aotearoa nxt week though

They play very similar styles. Personally I see ABs by 8.

But Australia, http://tinyurl.com/pawoep8
