Rugby Championship 2014: South Africa team for New Zealand test

Heyneke Meyer makes just one change to the Springbok side to take on New Zealand this weekend in Wellington

saruSpringbok boss Heyneke Meyer has recalled Handré Pollard for their game against New Zealand this weekend – he starts in place of Morné Steyn, who has come in for a fair amount of flak for his role in their loss to Australia last weekend.

Steyn drops out of the squad altogether, and the inclusion of Pollard is the only change to the matchday 23 that was overturned by the Wallabies. Captain Jean de Villiers reaches the 100 test mark just a week after Bryan Habana did so, and becomes the fifth South African ever to reach the milestone.

South Africa team to play New Zealand:

15 Willie le Roux, 14 Cornal Hendricks, 13 Jan Serfontein, 12 Jean de Villiers (captain), 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Handré Pollard, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Marcell Coetzee, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Tendai Mtawarira.
