The Barbarians rugby team is a legendary touring side with a rich history of sporting feats and drinking sessions, and I wish I was the lucky rugby fan spending a week with the current squad.
Kevin Wand, the U9s coach at Spalding Rugby Club, will spend a week living, eating, drinking and training with the all-star Barbarians as the 23rd member of the squad for The MasterCard Trophy. He won a competition organised by MasterCard, and is surely going to have a great week.
Father of two Kevin, from Spalding in Lincolnshire, said, “I still can’t believe I’ve been chosen as the winner! I’ve been involved in rugby my whole life and this really is a dream come true. It’s an unbelievable prize.”
The Barbarians are playing against England at Twickenham on 30th May, and against Ireland at Thomond Park on 4th June. For behind-the-scenes action and news from Kevin’s week with the Barbarians, go to www.benumber23.co.uk/priceless.
