Shaw and Armitage likely to miss Scotland game

Simon Shaw saw a specialist today to review his injury to the a/c joint in his left shoulder sustained after a few minutes of action on Saturday, whilst Delon Armitage is suffering from a rib cartilage injury.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed that they will miss the next game, the news doesn’t sound too good. The results of Shaw’s scan will be assessed and a further update will be issued tomorrow.

Ben Foden will train with the team when they reconvene at Pennyhill Park on Tuesday, and could well be in line to start against Scotland in two weeks’ time.

  1. I really hope it is – he deserves a chance and this could be the opportunity he needs.

It could also be an opportunity for Courtney Lawes, but I’d be surprised. One step at a time I suppose.

  2. You would hope so…but I don’t think MJ is bold enough to make too many changes, however much the team need them.

  3. At his age could it maybe even mean the end of Shaw’s career.

I notice you both leapt on to the positive of Foden maybe forcing his way in to replace Armitage – why no mention of Louis Deacon in for Shaw???

    I’ll get me coat!

  4. Rob, Shaw has stated not long ago that he will make himself available for England until after the world cup, so i dont think it would end his career, it can be an injury which might leave him just a few months on the sidelines. I THINK.
    Cheers.
