Thankfully, there were no draws in Round 3 of the Guinness Premiership, but again the SportGuru points were scarce. The fixtures in Round 4 have been met with mixed emotions by players of the Official Guinness Premiership Prediction Game – excitement at the prospect of more epic battles, but also with trepidation at having to predict who is going to win.
Newcastle Falcons v Harlequins
Harlequins travel to Newcastle on Friday night as the only team to have lost all three matches so far. Newcastle are also yet to win a game, but they have drawn two so far, and the consensus is for a close match. 65% of players are expecting a home win, with almost 2% banking on a third draw for the Falcons. The average overall pick is Newcastle by 1.
Northampton Saints v Leeds Carnegie
Northampton against Leeds seems to be the most one-sided game we’ve had so far, with 99% of the community backing the Saints. Leeds might be in for a difficult afternoon, with the average overall prediction of Northampton to win by 17 points.
Worcester Warriors v Sale Sharks
If the Saints game has most people leaning the same way, Worcester versus Sale has divided opinion – 53% of Gurus are expecting Sale to win, whilst the average overall prediction is Sale by 1. A close game appears to be in store.
Bath v Leicester Tigers
The live game on Sky Sports is also a difficult one to call, but most people are leaning towards the reigning champions. Bath recorded their first win last week, whilst the Tigers are still seeking their first try, but 62% of the community are predicting an Away win. The average overall pick is Leicester by 1.
London Irish v London Wasps
On Sunday, London Wasps visit local rivals London Irish, who are full of confidence after consecutive high-scoring victories. Just under three-quarters of Gurus are backing a win for the Exiles, and the average community prediction is London Irish by 3.
Saracens v Gloucester Rugby
The final match of the round sees Gloucester heading to Vicarage Road. Saracens will be determined to defend their 100% record, whilst the cherry and whites will be desperate to return to winning ways. Almost 89% of players are expecting another Sarries victory and the average overall prediction is Saracens by 7.
