Super Rugby Predictions 2011: Round 16

After a great weekend in Round 15, I’ve moved up over 5,000 places – if only the Highlanders had beaten the Lions!

This week, there are some tough calls to make, and the Highlanders v Force game is one of them. Both teams have been inconsistent this year, and have scuppered many a SuperBru round, but I’ve gone for the home side to kick off the weekend.

I’ve picked the Stormers to overcome the Rebels, who haven’t had a great run recently, and I’ve gone for the Bulls to beat the Tahs at home to continue their impressive streak as the playoffs get closer.

Hurricanes v Lions is a tricky one after the Lions’ shock result last weekend, as is Blues v Chiefs after both sides lost in Round 15.

The Reds are on fire and should beat the Brumbies comfortably, and then I’ve gone for a Sharks victory away at the Cheetahs. The home side have had some great results, notably beating the Crusaders, but the Sharks had a 15-point win over the Cheetahs in Round 1, and will hopefully have enough to see them off again.

Here are my predictions for Round 16 of Super Rugby:

Highlanders v Force: Highlanders by 6
Rebels v Stormers: Stormers by 13
Bulls v Waratahs: Bulls by 8
Hurricanes v Lions: Hurricanes by 9
Blues v Chiefs: Blues by 7
Reds v Brumbies: Reds by 12
Cheetahs v Sharks: Sharks by 7

  1. Mostly agree.

Think the Sharks and Cheetahs game might be the tricky one. The past few seasons the Sharks had a difficult time against the Cheetahs, especially in Bloemfontein. Do not let the Cheetah loss against the Bulls influence you – the Bulls played well and the Cheetahs nearly came back at the end. It is going to be a close one.

The Bulls are improving each week. Loftus will be packed and they will go for the bonus point. Bulls should take it with 12.

  2. Agree with Plato, Cheetahs Sharks game is a difficult one to call. We’ll also have to see how the Sharks cope with a notably colder Bloemfontein.
