The Rugby Blog’s Top 5 Christmas Gifts

Here at The Rugby Blog we thought we’d take the stress out of Christmas shopping for you. No we’re not going to go out en masse and hit Bluewater/The Bullring/Oxford Street with lists as long as our arms, we’ve got enough of that of our own to do!

Instead we’ve compiled our Top 5 rugby-related Christmas gifts and even included links so you can buy them online! Maybe you’ll find one or more of our list wrapped up under the tree…

1. Engage: The Fall and Rise of Matt Hampson by Paul Kimmage

Shortlisted for this year’s William Hill Sports Book of the Year award, Engage is a fascinating read into the life of Matt Hampson, the former Leicester Tigers and England U21 prop who suffered a career ending injury during a scrummaging drill. You may laugh, you may cry but once you start reading it, you won’t want to put it down until you’re finished.

2. Help for Heroes Clothing

Very much in the public eye recently, Help For Heroes also have some excellent merchandise, with all the profit going into the charity itself. Browse around and pick something out, all for a good cause.

3. RWC Highlights DVD

Perhaps not the best idea for England supporters, but for the rejoicing Kiwi or the emotional Welsh fan, this review will no doubt bring back some fond memories. For everyone, there’s a chance to revisit some of the best games from the tournament, including some fantastic tries.

4. Wacky Sox

For banter on the training pitch or simply to keep warm when the cold hits, these socks are fashionable (ahem) and look awesome. How can you say no? One pair of socks that you will definitely not lose or throw away (though your other half might).

5. Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge

Produced by New Zealand developers Sidhe, Rugby Challenge has licenses for the All Blacks & Wallabies, as well as the Aviva Premiership, Super Rugby, RaboDirect Pro12 and Top 14. The number of teams available plus the ability to play online means the game is truly an excellent product, and perfect for any younger rugby fans this Christmas. What’s more, we have got TWO copies of the game to give away in our competition which can be found here.
