Twelvetrees: ‘Everyone is looking forward to the challenge’

Billy Twelvetrees

Billy Twelvetrees spoke to Nick Heath this week for the RFU Podcast, ahead of the Saxons’ Churchill Cup final at the weekend.

The Tigers back has caught the eye this season, and impressed in his Saxons’ outings so far, and some have suggested that he could get the call-up for Martin Johnson’s Rugby World Cup squad.

He wasn’t so sure: “This season, I was just looking to get into the first team for Leicester, to play week-in week-out for them.”

“Getting the call-up to the Saxons was a nice little surprise…and it’s been good to get some game time with some new players. You just take it as it goes and I’d rather just concentrate on Leicester and pre-season.”

As you’d expect, the guys are focused on the next game, rather than the preliminary RWC squad announcement on Monday, and it sounds like they are looking forward to it.

  1. He seems like a good pick for the World Cup squad to me…he’s big, can run, pass and kick (you’d think it a pre-requisite, but not necessarily!) and can cover centres and fly-half, which could make him 3rd choice cover at 10.

  2. one of englands future centres.
    Most definately.
One of thos whens and not if he plays for england

      1. Bras i dunno. brilliant player but doesnt have the cutting edge that Tuilagi and 12trees bring. A much better all round player than each of them individualy but in my opinion there is not dought that england should be taking 12trees and Tuilagi to the 2015 RWC.

For this one tho i would pick barrit and Tuilagi. 12trees not yet starting for liecester not quite as mature as Manu yet (gonna get alot of comments bout the punch i know but you have to admit he has matured so much since the beggining of the year

Martin get rid Tindall and Hape NOW!
