Exeter Chiefs were clear favourites for relegation when the season began in September, but now they appear to be safely in mid-table and continue to impress.
Along with a loyal, vocal support at Sandy Park, where they have already beaten Quins, Saracens, Gloucester and Sale this season, they also seem to be everyone else’s second-favourite team in the league.
Credit for their success has been attributed in part to their strength and conditioning team, made up of former marines. They underwent pre-season training at the Royal Marine Training centre at Lympstone (including fitness testing with fines, such as season long extra training sessions), and regularly use commando training methods.
In keeping with the ‘War Camp’ theme of Sandy Park and the great team spirit that has been fostered at the club, the players took part in the Tomahawk throwing challenge – check out the video below for the highlights.
