Warrant issued for Digby Ioane’s arrest

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Australia winger Digby Ioane after he failed to appear at Melbourne magistrates court for a hearing relating to an incident at a Prahan hotel in March.

The Queensland Reds winger was due to face a hearing relating to a charge of indecent assault following a scuffle on March 9th, a day after his province’s Super Rugby match against the Melbourne Rebels. He was stood down by the Reds for the following game. He was not charged by the police at the time, but was later while on tour in South Africa.

His failure to appear at the disciplinary hearing means a warrant has been put out for his arrest. It is an entirely unwanted distraction for the Wallabies ahead of the must-win second test, and especially unwelcome given the state of their already injury-ravaged back-line.

  1. They’re backline is imploding quicker than the aussie cricket team! The amazing thing is that their strength in depth means that they will still be able to field a potentially match winning backline from their second and third choices. Amazing. Not sure even the AB’s have this depth.
