Who is the 2013 Lions’ fine-master?

Fine-master is one of the most sought after and important roles on any tour, as anyone who has experienced one will let you know. Firstly, if you haven’t yet seen the Kangaroo Court video from the 1997 tour, you really have to have a look:

The honour of representing the Lions aside, the tour just looks like great craic. That video comes from a court session, when fines are handed out and punishment assigned. And it has come to light recently that this year’s fine-master will be Rob Kearney, a 2009 tourist who will know all about how the process works.

As fun as that will be, the rooming committee are the ones with the real power, getting to decide who stays with the smelliest, messiest and noisiest people. Perhaps Kearney will be slightly more lenient when dishing out their fines? Who knows.

Other tour appointments include:

Joke of the Day: Toby Faleteu, Manu Tuilagi and Mako Vunipola
Tourist information: Mike Phillips and Dan Cole – must brief the squad on every city they visit
Laundry Boy: George North
Chief Announcers: Sean O’Brien, Ian Evans
Rooming Committee: Dan Lydiate, Richie Gray, Leigh Halfpenny

What are your best memories from any tours you’ve been on? Any particularly funny fines handed out?

  1. We had to down pints, how was dependent on the severity of the crime.

Pint through a match-day sock or jockstrap and occasionally depending on the incident, through a sock/jockstrap with the coaches false teeth in the glass.
