Israel Folau – 7.5
Still the Wallabies’ most threatening player and just oozes class. Always seems to break at least one tackle and his superb ability in the air led to him nicking a try at the end.
Adam Ashley-Cooper – 5.5
Couldn’t get as involved as he usually does and perhaps could have done better for Dane Cole’s try. A rare blip for Mr Consistent.
Tevita Kuridrani – 5
Just very one dimensional and predictable. The wily All Blacks midfield handled him with ease.
Matt Toomua – 5.5
His quest to really nail down a jersey goes on. After the promise of last week, he looked short of ideas and struggled to influence the game from the centres.
Henry Speight – 5
I have to confess that I didn’t really notice that he was playing until he went off with an injury. Invisible, which is a shame for a bloke who looked very sharp in Super Rugby.
Quade Cooper – 4
Oh Quade, Eden Park really isn’t a happy place for you is it? The Reds fly half was solid but couldn’t conjure anything to really worry the All Black defence, and then his badly-aimed swinging arm and subsequent yellow card really put his team under the pump and put the game to bed.
Nic White – 5
Like Toomua, White was another who failed to live up to the promise of last week. Missed a couple of key tackles and didn’t see him threaten the fringes a lot.
Scott Sio – 6
Positive early efforts in the set piece but he did fade as the game went on – although his carrying in the loose was an asset to his side.
Stephen Moore – 5.5
A rare off-day. We didn’t really see him taking the game by the scruff of the neck like we’re used to, as demonstrated by a lineout that went very wobbly as the test went on.
Sekope Kepu – 6
Like Sio, was a powerful presence with the ball in hand although no try this week. Honours about even in the scrum but even that is a sign of how much his set piece has improved.
Will Skelton – 5
I’m starting to see him as more of an impact player than anything else – when he starts he just doesn’t seem as prominent or destructive as he is off the bench.
James Horwill – 5.5
One bad missed tackle on Dan Carter opened the gate for Coles’ try and just doesn’t seem like the same player he was when he used to skipper the Australia side. Still, a big engine and got through a lot of work.
Scott Fardy – 7
Not a spectacular player but he did not stop working his socks off throughout the game. Carried hard and he reads the game well.
Michael Hooper – 6.5
Still a bundle of energy but he didn’t have as much effect this week, perhaps because he was trying to do the dirty work Pocock usually undertakes, too.
Wycliff Palu – 5
Bad call by Cheika. The big man didn’t look match fit and had less of an impact than you would expect. Couldn’t match the All Blacks for physicality when it mattered.
Subs: Positive contributions from James Slipper and David Pocock, but even they couldn’t rescue this one.
