England Saxons and South Africa ‘A’ teams for second test

England Saxons and South Africa ‘A’ have named their line-ups for the second test in George this weekend.

The Saxons, who triumphed 32-24 in the first instalment of the series, make two personnel changes and one positional. Christian Wade replaces the injured Alex Lewington on the wing, while Dave Ewers starts in the back-row with Don Armand moving to number eight.

There are wholesale changes for the South African side, as in the backs Sergeal Petersen, Lukhanyo Am, Francois Brummer and Piet van Zyl start in the places of Travis Ismaiel, Howard Mnisi, Garth April and Nic Groom respectively.

Up front, Arno Botha, Jean-Luc du Preez, RG Snyman, Jason Jenkins, Marcel van der Merwe and Malcolm Marx replace Nizaam Carr, Sikhumbuzo Notshe, Stephan Lewies, JD Schickerling, Vincent Koch and Scarra Ntubeni.

  1. Did Groom get injured last week? Seems strange if not as he was one of SA’s best players.

    Can’t see the Saxons losing this one. Wade adds that extra dimension in attack and I think the combination of Ewers and Armand will help us get over the gainline more.
