Here is the Lions team to play the Blues on Wednesday. What do think of this lineup?
Lionx XV

14. Jack Nowell – Exeter Chiefs, England
13. Jared Payne – Ulster, Ireland
12. Robbie Henshaw – Leinster, Ireland

5. Courtney Lawes – Northampton Saints, England
6. James Haskell – Wasps, England
7. Justin Tipuric – Ospreys, Wales,#786
8. CJ Stander – Munster, Ireland
Replacements
16. Rory Best – Ulster, Ireland, #793
17. Joe Marler – Harlequins, England, #811
18. Kyle Sinckler – Harlequins, England, #814
19. Iain Henderson – Ulster, Ireland, #808
20. Peter O’Mahony – Munster, Ireland
21. Greig Laidlaw – Gloucester, Scotland, #810
22. Johnny Sexton – Leinster, Ireland, #791
23. Liam Williams – Scarlets, Wales
Still can’t believe Dan Biggar is on the tour. No creativity in backs, just going to be an arm wrestle.
Is Farell injured?
I’d imagine he is being saved for the Crusaders game on Saturday. It’ll be the most difficult of the warm ups and therefore an early indication of his ideas for the test team
Here is the Blues team:
1 Ofa Tu’ungafasi, 2 James Parsons (c), 3 Charlie Faumuina, 4 Gerard Cowley-Tuioti, 5 Scott Scrafton, 6 Akira Ioane, 7 Blake Gibson, 8 Steven Luatua; 9 Augustine Pulu, 10 Stephen Perofeta, 11 Rieko Ioane, 12 Sonny Bill Williams/TJ Faiane, 13 George Moala, 14 Matt Duffie, 15 Michael Collins.
Replacements: 16 Hame Faiva, 17 Alex Hodgman, 18 Sione Mafileo, 19 Patrick Tuipulotu, 20 Kara Pryor, 21 Sam Nock, 22 Ihaia West, 23 TJ Faiane/Melani Nanai.
Looks like SBW is being given every chance. This is pretty much full strength, apart from Perofeta at 10 – Piers Francis is with England now, and Ihaia West has been struggling with injury.
I pity any back line which has to start a game with Biggar at fly half. Daly and Nowell will have to work doubly hard to do anything which gives them a chance of a test start.
I think the back line for Crusaders game will be Murray, Farrell, North, T’eo, JD, Watson and Hogg with Webb, Sexton and Williams on the bench.
There’s some decent players in that Blues team!
Wonder what spread you can get on how many times Biggar kicks the ball when in the oppo half?
Luckily both Nowell and Daly are good at looking for work.
Pack looks good for the Lions. Haskell will have to pick up his game from the last couple of ones for wasps, especially against the likes of A Ioane
I expect to see both Daly and Nowell playing more off Webb than Biggar. Webb is more likely to make a break or create something than Biggar. And Halfpenny isn’t exactly the most exciting full back in the attacking sense.
I think that Gatland has a good idea of his team for Saturday but wants to try out a few more combinations before his final decision.
Biggar is going to be the best player on the pitch
Biggar is going to be the best player on the pitch!!
Biggar is going to be the best player on the pitch!!
