Six Nations 2017: Scotland v Italy Prediction

Picamoles

At one stage last week, I was looking at this game thinking that Scotland could be going for the Six Nations title in the less-envied lunchtime game, whilst Ireland and England play out the evening match for the mid-table places.

SuperbruSadly for Scotland, it wasn’t to be, and this game will be test of character in terms of how they respond from last weekend’s humbling at Twickenham. It’s Vern Cotter’s last game in charge, and he’ll demand a strong performance from the team he has improved so much.

I think he’ll get it too. Despite all the injuries last weekend, there’s only one change to the lineup, with Ross Ford starting at hooker, and so this is pretty much the same side about which everyone was excited this time last week.

Italy meanwhile, have been fairly awful. Even with three home games out of four, the Azzurri have still lost by an average of over 30 points every week. I can’t seem them winning at Murrayfield, so it’s all about the margin.

With Lions places up for grabs and Italy already resigned to the Wooden Spoon, I think it’s going to be fairly convincing for Scotland.
