  1. anybody who takes out Barnes deserves a medal, only other time I’ve known a ref be so disliked was Steve Lander, was at a match once when Lander was booed by both sets of fans when his name was announced before the game started, Barnes is heading that way

  2. I don’t really get his dislike for Wayne Barnes if I am honest.

I suspect that he may come across as being a little “haughty”, but so what? He gets most decisions right. Just like most other refs.

  3. Dear Wayne is a barrister in his other life where his expertise is described on his firm’s website as….

‘Wayne is an experienced criminal barrister with expertise in….. bribery and corruption, serious and complex fraud,’

Well NZ and Wales fans to name but two sets of supporters who know about these issues with Wayne, having been ref’d by him at the RWC 2007 (NZ v France) and RWC 2011 (SA v Wales) when the outstanding, impartial and ever efficient Wayne was the man with the whistle in so many important matches.

    We are also told that

‘He is regarded as one of the world’s top referees in the sport and regularly officiates in Premiership and Heineken Cup European games’

Well done Wayne, a credit to the game and to fair play at all times!!!
