Speaking to the media is the least favourite job of professional sportsmen at the best of times, but after a defeat as painful as England’s to Wales on Saturday night, it was something the players were even less inclined to do.
Here’s Mike Brown (barely) speaking to reporters after the game:

As you know by now, we are hilarious, and you should be following us on Facebook and Twitter.
We slate sportsmen for not showing emotion then when they do, they get called petulant!
Personally, I’ve no issue with it – you can feel the pain and that’s more honest than any number of meaningless platitudes.
I’m not sure everyone feels the same way though (least of all the England media department).
Alun Wyn-Jones is emotional, go and find an interview of him treating someone like this – win lose or draw.
He makes himself look petulant. What was he going to do? chin Warbs? leave it out. To me it’s a sign of mental weakness, he clearly can’t control his emotions at times.
Petulant? Thats a ridiculous comment Anarky. He is English. So he must be arrogant.
Typical – can’t get your stereotyping right, pfff!
I’m with Jamie… I heard all the hype about this video in work and then when I watched it was left thinking…”Was that it?” He is clearly gutted, pragmatic and honest. What he says is the black and white truth. They lost, their discipline cost them the game, and they need to win or they will be knocked out. In my mind, it won’t hurt to have that raw practical mindset over the next six days…
Personally not a fan of Brown’s petulance on the pitch. However, don’t think there is anything petulant about that. He was devastated. You wouldn’t have got anymore out of me if you’d asked me any questions between 10 and 12 on Saturday night, and I wasn’t even playing.
Personally I’m happy to see a bit of honesty and a genuine response from a clearly devastated player in one of these post match interviews!
I get so sick of the same old lines that players are coached to parrot off to the media, “credit to [insert team here]”, “we’ve got a lot to work on in training”, “we’re still a young side” that it’s refreshing to actually get an idea of what the players are really feeling and going through. It connects much more with fans than any media campaign, cartoon or otherwise, and I for one am pleased that Mike Brown has shown he is as devastated as we the fans are.
It is not a weakness to express how you are feeling. It’s a strength.
I absolutely agree for once we saw some genuine raw emotion unlike the polished pr crap we get from SL even today. You can see Robshaw is totally devasted.I don’t believe the England coaches are capable of putting fire and belief back into their bellies in just 6 days. This was as traumatic a defeat as was Cardiff 2013-and you need a lot of time and care to recover from trauma
Lovr it because biting kio means trying to stop himself crying. Shows cares n gutted!!!! Mike brown
yr awesome n real :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) respect xxx
