I picked only three matches of out six last weekend, and with no margin points at all, so here’s hoping for a better performance this time out. I did win my LeoVegas bet though, which puts me at the top of their betting league…every cloud.

Northampton v Bath
What a great fixture to kick off the round, with Northampton taking on Bath, both high in confidence after big wins last weekend. Looking at the season’s form so far, Saints were poor in Round 1 before bouncing back to beat the Tigers at home. Bath have been outstanding, beating the Tigers at Welford Road and then downing Sarries at the Rec, and they’ll be real title-contenders if they can win at Franklin’s Gardens too. Saints are missing a few players through injury, whilst Bath have made changes for the better, with Kahn Fotuali’i and Sam Underhill both making their first starts of the season. Bath by 4.
Average Superbru prediction: Bath by 3.36 | Bookie Handicap: Northampton -1
Worcester v Exeter
Worcester has had a tough start to the season so far, and it’s unlikely to improve as they host the Champions at Sixways. Exeter by 13
Average Superbru prediction: Exeter by 10.09 | Bookie Handicap: Exeter -11.5
Sale v London Irish
The Sharks are another team with two defeats from two, and this already looks like a must-win fixture if they want to avoid a relegation fight. They should have beaten Newcastle last weekend, and if they can fix their lineout, they should be able to get past the Exiles and perhaps even deny them a losing bonus point. Sale by 8.
Average Superbru prediction: Sale by 2.16 | Bookie Handicap: Sale -10.5
Leicester v Gloucester
Having beaten Exeter in Round 1, Gloucester were disappointing at the Stoop last weekend, succumbing fairly easily to Harlequins and only scoring a consolation try late on to make the scoreline more respectable. They don’t look like a side that can win away at Welford Road, and the Tigers should get their season back on track here. Leicester by 13.
Average Superbru prediction: Leicester by 3.71 | Bookie Handicap: Leicester -11.5
Newcastle v Saracens
This match takes place in Philadelphia, and I fear the sprinkling of US rugby fans there might see a rather one-sided affair. I’m not sure why this is the match to be taken stateside, presumably because Newcastle was the only team to accept the compensation money for giving up a precious home fixture. Anyway, the Falcons were fairly awful at Sale last week, whilst Sarries love a tour and will be better-equipped for the occasion. Saracens by 23.
Average Superbru prediction: Saracens by 6.44 | Bookie Handicap: Saracens -16.5
Waps v Harlequins
Wasps have quietly gone about their business so far, and already sit top of the table. I would expect them to win almost every match in Coventry this year, and they’ve been comfortable winners over Quins there recently – in their three meetings at the Ricoh so far, Wasps have won by an average of 31 points (31, 32 and 29). Whilst I don’t expect it to be that big, Quins haven’t looked particularly impressive so far. Wasps by 18.
Average Superbru prediction: Wasps by 9.16 | Bookie Handicap: Wasps -13.5
Bets:
10 on Bath, Exeter, Sale, Leicester, Saracens and Wasps to win: – combined odds 4.38
If Bath do win at Franklin’s Gardens tonight, this bet should come in.
