Aviva Premiership Predictions 2011/12: Round 9

We’re back to domestic rugby action this weekend, and here are my Aviva Premiership Rugby predictions for Round 9.

There are a couple of tight games in prospect tonight, and I’ve gone for a Sale win at Edgeley Park over the Chiefs, whilst I think Bath will nick an away win at Sixways against Worcester.

Gloucester v Leicester is the tie of the round, and Fortress Kingsholm doesn’t seem to have the same fear factor at the moment. Can the Tigers sort themselves out in the Premiership? Gloucester is still a tough place to visit and I’ve picked a home win.

I think Irish will be too good for Wasps at home, and I’ve gone for Sarries to win at Franklins Gardens. They’ve had success there in the last couple of seasons, and they seem to be difficult to stop at the moment – and after Saints’ disappointing efforts against the Scarlets, I can see another Sarries win.

Quins v Newcastle? Only one winner there, surely. Here are my Aviva Premiership predictions – what do you think?

Sale Sharks v Exeter Chiefs: Sale Sharks by 5
Worcester Warriors v Bath: Bath by 8
Gloucester Rugby v Leicester Tigers: Gloucester Rugby by 5
London Irish v London Wasps: London Irish by 8
Northampton Saints v Saracens: Saracens by 5
Harlequins v Newcastle Falcons: Harlequins by 18

  1. Believe me, us Quins supporters aren’t taking this match for granted. Falcons could be a big banana skin for us. Plus, last time we played them, in the LV= Semi Final at The Stoop, they beat us. Granted, you’d probably pick us to win given the current form, I’ll stay nervous until the result is beyond doubt!
