Guinness Premiership Predictions: Round 22

It’s the final round of Guinness Premiership matches, and the fact that some teams have something to fight for whilst others do not makes for difficult predictions.

All six games are being played simultaneously at 3pm on Saturday, and in theory, Wasps and London Irish could still beat Bath to a playoff place. Bath are taking on Leeds at The Rec though, and that really should be a home victory to secure their spot in the semis.

Wasps and Irish won’t take anything for granted, and they will be desperate to give themselves a chance – if Bath are beaten, they would be livid if they missed the opportunity to leapfrog them.

However, the Exiles have been out of form, and with all the talk of Mike Catt’s ‘last match’ this weekend, they appear to have written off their own chances. Wasps certainly won’t though, and I fancy them to win in Newcastle just in case Bath slip up.

Meanwhile, Northampton and Saracens are battling it out for a home semi-final, and both face tough away trips. I can’t really see Saracens getting a result at Welford Road where the Tigers will be looking to continue momentum into the playoffs and all the way to Twickenham at the end of the month – but I do think the Saints will beat Irish.

Here are my predictions for the six matches – let me know what you think.

Bath v Leeds Carnegie: Bath by 13
Harlequins v Sale Sharks: Harlequins by 7
Leicester Tigers v Saracens: Leicester Tigers by 13
London Irish v Northampton Saints: Northampton Saints by 6
Newcastle Falcons v London Wasps: London Wasps by 11
Worcester Warriors v Gloucester Rugby: Gloucester Rugby by 7
