Having predicted six Home wins by very small margins, typically there were one or two unexpected results in the weekend’s Guinness Premiership action.
Friday night saw Wasps end their unbeaten run by defeating Leicester Tigers at Welford Road – normally a feat achieved by few teams and only if they are at the top of their game. Heyneke Meyer’s side was dreadful and Wasps only marginally better.
Newcastle beat Bristol in the clash of the relegation contenders, whilst Sale set a new record for not conceding any tries in four games on their way to beating Gloucester. The Sharks now sit at the summit of the table as the only side yet to lose a match.
On Saturday, London Irish overcame a 12-point half time deficit against Harlequins at The Stoop to win 27-28, Saracens beat Northampton at Vicarage Road and Bath beat Worcester to earn a 4-try bonus point, of which there have been only three all season.
Have Wasps overcome their demons, or can we expect further disappointment from them? Are Sale now the favourites for the title? Let us know what you think…
