Ireland name side for home clash against France

Declan Kidney has name his side for the return fixture against France in Dublin, which sees the return of outside centre and captain Brian O’Driscoll.

Up front Ireland have arguably selected their best pack with Paul O’Connell and Jamie Heaslip coming back into the side, with Sean O’Brien moving to 6. In the back, Tomas O’Leary and Jonathan Sexton come in at half-back, with Keith Earls moving to the wing to accomodate O’Driscoll and Felix Jones of Munster making a first start at full back.

  1. That’s a good looking team.

The fowards are a strong unit now that Mike Ross has shored up the scrum and the backs look really interesting with Felix Jones, Trimble and Earls all in there

A nice combination of new, relatively new and very experienced players

    Should be a cracking game

  2. Forwards with the exception of Rory Best probably 1st choice. Back line looks interesting. Let’s hope that Bowe makes it soon.

  3. Would like to have seen Geordan Murphy get a chance to show us what he can do at full back in this game. Felix Jones has great potential but but Murphy experience could be vital in a tourament. Otherwise happy with the Back Line.
Disappointed that Flannery and Ferris are not starting because their injury track record makes them a risk when naming the squad next week.

  4. Thats an excellent looking team!! I agree its an interesting back line.
Lets hope ferris get a run out and the team gels before the start of the world cup

  5. This is a good team ,great back row with Ferris to impact off the bench
backs look good if Geordan Murphy has a big game tomorrow he may well get to travel. He can slot in anywhere in the back -line and would be a better option than Paddy Wallace

  6. Yep liking the look of the team alright will be interesting to see what level of intensity we play with Im looking for a ferocious start maintained for the 80. Hope Ferris gets a run out too. Looking forward to the game should be a cracker.

  7. doesn’t matter what backs are out their with o’leary playin scrum half every ball will be passed as soon as the french have had time to set up their defensive line! think o’leary and wallace must have photo’s of deccie he doesn’t want us to see !

  8. p.s. best ain’t that bad its a system last week the jumpers weren’t getting the timing right think he is a good all rounder withdarts his weakest but still miles better than cronin!
