RAF Spitfires looking for Sevens success with Canterbury

The RAF Spitfires Rugby Sevens Team, who are sponsored by Canterbury, have organised a new Invitational Rugby 7s Charity Tournament, to be held on the 26th May 2012 at Oxford University RFC’s historic Iffley Road grounds. The one-day tournament will feature 12 International and UK-based rugby teams, with proceeds distributed to three RAF chosen charities.

The impressive lineup will feature the RAF Spitfires, international sides such as Wales, Afghanistan, UWIC and Indian Side Rugby Uncle, as well as the infamous university rivalry Oxford v Cambridge.

All proceeds from the day’s events will be donated between Khelo Rugby, which enriches children’s lives through the playing and coaching of rugby in Kolkata, India, the RAF ExPOW Association, and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Sponsored by Spitfire Ale, the tournament will also feature music throughout the day and an array of entertainment including a parachute jump and a “fly past” from the RAF’s finest.

Tickets are available at the gate: £15 for Adults, £10 for Concessions (Over 60’s, Students, U18’s), £5 for under 12 yrs, and kids under 5 go free. Gates open at 11am.
