RWC 2011: Wales side to face Samoa

Wales have announced their side to play Samoa in Sunday’s crucial Pool D match. Having narrowly lost to South Africa last weekend, Wales need to win this match to have any chance of progressing into the knock-out stages of the tournament.

Warren Gatland has remained faithful to the side that fought so hard last week with the only change being on the bench, as experienced prop Gethin Jenkins has recovered from a calf injury to replace Ryan Bevington.

It’s the side that should have beaten South Africa last weekend, can they manage victory against Samoa?

WALES: James Hook; George North, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, Shane Williams; Rhys Priestland, Mike Phillips; Paul James, Huw Bennett, Adam Jones, Luke Charteris, Alun Wyn Jones, Dan Lydiate, Sam Warburton (captain), Toby Faletau
REPLACEMENTS: Lloyd Burns, Gethin Jenkins, Bradley Davies, Andy Powell, Tavis Knoyle, Scott Williams, Leigh Halfpenny.

  1. As an Irishman it’s hard to decide who to support. Wales are a known quantity for the quarter final – dour cynical cheats. Samoa are an unknown quantity except for the fact that they gave Australia a lesson. So do I support the Welsh? I’m not inclined. Come on Samoa!!!!!
